Vocalist Kaija Pohjola and Matti Vartiala have lived in their fully renovated apartment in a Tampere suburb for over a year.
– We have decorated the home by mutual agreement, Matti laughs in an interview with Hymy magazine in January.
11 years of living together has a lot of ups and downs.
Two years had passed since Kaija and Mati first met and started dating, when Kaija fell ill with cancer. It was found during a routine checkup in 2015, when a suspicious lump was found in the breast.

A more detailed fine-needle sample examination revealed an early breast cancer.
– There has been breast cancer in my family. When I thought about death, I felt that if it is going now, then it is my fate. Younger people have also left here. So be it, says Kaija in an interview with Hymy magazine.
Kaija says that her cancer was hormonal. He underwent a sparing operation, during which another tumor was found behind the already detected tumor.
Fortunately, the cancer had not spread to the lymph nodes. Cytostat treatments had almost no effect on his health. The hair came out and Matti stroked his bald head.

– I didn’t suffer from nausea and Matti was with me during the cancer treatments. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him.
