Kamala Harris promises to help Americans buy a home or pay their rent – US Elections 2024

There are thirteen key points in Kamala’s program for four years in the White House, according to her candidacy’s official website. A tailor-made itinerary for the middle class. “As President, my focus will be on creating opportunities for the middle class that promote economic security, stability and dignity,” he says.

One of the North American vice-president’s concerns is solving the housing problem – a central issue also in our country, as well as in many other EU member states, starting with neighboring Spain. To make housing more affordable, Kamala promises to “help Americans buy a home or pay their rent”, create tax incentives for builders and allocate land belonging to the federal state for construction, among other measures. By the end of her term, the vice president wants to build three million affordable homes for the middle class.

“I will work, together with the industry in the sector, to build the houses we need, both for rent and to buy, cutting down on bureaucracy”, he said.

Providing a dignified life for retirees is another objective of the Democrat, in a program marked by the promise of improving living conditions. Not just through tax cuts, but above all through falling prices for food, healthcare, medicine and energy.

Doors closed to immigration

There are points in common between Trump and Kamala’s programs, such as reducing taxes and energy costs, but the priorities defined by the Republican candidate are substantially different. At the top of the list is the issue of immigration, in which the former American president leaves no doubt about what he will do if he returns to the White House. “Close the borders, stop the migrant invasion and begin the largest deportation in the history of America”, as can be read on his official campaign website. “We will start (with the deportation) of a million people. That’s where Kamala failed and that’s where we’re going to start working”, says Donald Trump.

The full immigration brake also applies to electric cars. The Republican leader fears the invasion of Chinese cars – he even talks about factories that will be built in Mexico by Beijing – and its effects on the North American industry in the sector, a bit like the fears expressed by the EU in this area. The Tesla owner’s entry into the campaign forced him to back down, but he still insists that there must be room for everyone. “I’m in favor of electric cars, they’re incredible. But people want gasoline and hybrid cars. Elon (Musk) understood that,” he says.

Of the big bets included in his program, one deserves particular attention: the restoration of “peace in Europe and the Middle East”. A priority that he justifies with the fact that these conflicts will certainly lead to World War III and that, he says, he will avoid.
