Mauck Special Vehicles thought it would be a good idea to differentiate its MSV 1120S Elite from conventional campers, such as the Volkswagen T4 that was being sold at the time, so it opted for a very particular design, both inside and out.
In this way, fiberglass panels are combined on the outside with some scissor doorslike those of a McLaren, fog lights taken from a Dodge Viper and taillights from a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The interior is as close to a private room in a 90s nightclub as you can get, with a huge leather-upholstered sofa, independent air conditioning for the rear of the cabin, a fridge, a sink and a driving position from which you can control all the climate control, lights and the air suspension system.
This particular unit has also been modified at some point over the past 28 years and features 16-inch Mickey Thompson wheels, tinted windows, LED ambient lighting inside, a rearview camera, a 2.8kW Cummins gasoline generator, a stereo with Orion speakers, and a rear infotainment system that includes a 17-inch screen and is mounted on the roof.
The engine has also been changed. It came out with a 5.7-liter V8 as standard, but now it has a 6.3-liter V8 from General Motors mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. It only has 58,200 miles on the clock, the equivalent of about 93,500 kilometers.
