The quality of healthcare is the foundation of society, on which the well-being of all of us depends. Unfortunately, the spread of quack science and disinformation among doctors has increased in Estonia in recent years. This puts patients’ health at risk and undermines trust in the medical system.
A recent article in the Lääne Elu newspaper highlighted the activities of Dr. Martin Ruumet, who has been spreading misscience for years. Although he is a doctor by training, in addition to much-needed healthy lifestyle recommendations, he has also given dangerous advice to get off medications for chronic diseases. A healthy lifestyle is undoubtedly important, but stopping medication can lead to life-threatening consequences.
The article reveals that Dr. Ruumet continues with the same practices: he advised the patient to drink herbal teas and to give up a couple of medications
