Kaspersky reveals keynote speakers and agenda for Security Analyst Summit 2024

Kaspersky has revealed the first information about the highly anticipated Security Analyst Summit (SAS) 2024, which will be held in Bali from October 22-25, 2024.

This exclusive three-day event will bring together over 130 attendees from 30 countries, including top cybersecurity researchers, law enforcement, CERTs, and industry leaders from INTERPOL, Palo Alto Networks, NSFOCUS, Cellebrite Labs, and Positive Technologies. One of the key events will be the finals of the Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, where competitors will fight for the top prize of $18,000.

The conference’s daily agenda is packed with exclusive research and threat detection announcements, with the goal of encouraging the exchange of knowledge about the latest techniques and methods for detecting them. The carefully selected program will delve into the details of advanced persistent threats, criminal software investigations, and contemporary challenges in threat hunting, along with discussions of sophisticated vulnerabilities in both software and hardware.

With a focus on the topic of space, the conference will offer an in-depth exploration of space-related threats, highlighting a presentation by Maria Isabel Manjarez from Kaspersky’s GreAT team titled Threats in space: A dangerous rise in GNSS attacks. Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, whom the magazine Fortune declared one of the 50 greatest world leaders, attracts special attention because he will share his personal experiences with the challenges of space digitization and the risks he faces while working in space.

Another important speech will be given by Yuki Chen, who was recently recognized by the Microsoft Researcher Recognition Program declared for Most Valuable Researcher (MVR). He played a key role in protecting Microsoft customers by discovering and sharing vulnerabilities as part of coordinated vulnerability disclosure. Chen will talk about experiences with Microsoft’s WIP bounty program, focusing on pre-authentication remote code execution (RCE) attack scenarios. It will also detect pre-authentication RCE errors detected in various Windows components, including DNS, LDAP, Remote FS, and Network Load Balancing.

The conference will provide an in-depth look at the recent Grandoreiro campaign that was uncovered through the joint efforts of cybersecurity experts and global law enforcement. This campaign targeted 1,300 financial institutions in 45 countries. Speakers will discuss the operation that led to the group’s arrest, malware tactics, the group’s international goals, and the vital role that collaboration between the cybersecurity industry and law enforcement plays in strengthening digital security around the world.

“We are proud to present an agenda that reflects the critical issues shaping cybersecurity today, with speeches from leading global experts.” It is a privilege to welcome such an outstanding group of speakers and we believe that this year’s summit will be an exceptional space to share insights and strategies that will help strengthen the digital environment while maintaining the unique energy and spirit of SAS,” said Igor Kuznetsov, director of Kaspersky’s global research and analysis team.

SAS 2024 will also host the finals of the $18,000 international Capture The Flag (CTF) competition. The May 2024 qualifiers attracted 846 teams from over 80 countries, with the top 8 competing in Bali.
