Trade group Kesko reported the sales figures for October on Thursday morning. Sales increased in all industries.
Kesko’s sales as a whole grew by 6.2 percent in October and amounted to EUR 1,125.0 million. Comparably, sales grew by 2.2 percent.
Grocery sales increased by 2.0 percent and amounted to EUR 565.6 million.
According to Kesko’s press release, grocery sales to K-food stores increased by 2.5 percent, and K-Citymarket’s consumer goods sales decreased. Wholesale Kespron sales increased by 5.3 percent.
Sales in the construction and building technology trade increased by 11.8 percent in October and amounted to EUR 438.5 million. The comparable growth was 1.3 percent.
Hardware trade grew by 25.0 percent, and comparable by 0.4 percent. The figures of the hardware store include a Danish one Davidsen– hardware store chain figures from February 1, 2024.
Sales of technical trade grew by 2.2 percent on a comparable basis. Comparably, sales in the construction and building technology trade grew by 1.7 percent in Finland and 1.9 percent in Norway. In Sweden, the decline was 9.3 percent.
In Sweden, the development of construction and building technology sales was partly affected by the closing of the K-Rauta stores.
In the car trade, the growth was 7.4 percent in total and 7.2 percent on a comparable basis. Sports store sales increased by 1.2 percent.
“In the grocery store, sales increased, especially in Kespro’s foodservice business. In the construction and building technology trade, hardware store sales increased thanks to the Davidsen acquisition. In the car trade, sales increased in all businesses. In October, there was one delivery day more in all industries,” Kesko’s CEO Jorma Rauhala commented in the announcement.
