Khaleda Zia left Dhaka for London

BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has left Dhaka for London for better treatment. The BNP chief left Dhaka in a Royal Air Ambulance on a special plane sent by the Emir of Qatar from Shahjalal International Airport around 12:15 on Tuesday night.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia’s motorcade left her residence Feroza in Gulshan at 8:10 pm on Tuesday. To see him off, activists flocked to the airport road. Thousands of activists gathered along the way. After about two and a half hours, the convoy entered the airport at around 11:15 PM.

Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia’s immigration was already completed in a special process. However, due to late arrival at the airport, Khaleda Zia’s flight could not leave on schedule. After that, the flight schedule was changed twice.

The air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar is scheduled to land at London’s Heathrow International Airport tomorrow morning local time from Dhaka via Doha. Khaleda Zia’s eldest son Tariq Rahman and his wife Zobaida Rahman will receive her in London. It is reported that Khaleda Zia will be taken to the London clinic directly from there.

Khaleda Zia is accompanied by six members of the medical board. They are – Professor Dr. Shahabuddin Talukder, Professor Dr. FM Siddique, Professor Nuruddin Ahmed, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Professor A ZM Zahid Hossain and Dr. Mohammad Al Mamun.

Begum Khaleda Zia is accompanied by her younger daughter-in-law Syeda Sharmila Rahman, chairperson’s adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury, BNP executive committee member Tabith Awal and Khaleda Zia’s private secretary ABM Abdus Sattar along with a few private officials-employees.

BNP chief’s personal physician Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said that Khaleda Zia will be admitted to the specialized hospital ‘London Clinic’. The doctors there will take all the decisions regarding his further treatment.

According to the website of ‘London Clinic’, the hospital has modern medical facilities including rapid diagnosis center, urology, gynecology and dermatology. It is considered to be one of the largest private hospitals in the UK. The year of its establishment is 1932. Located at Devonshire Place and Marylebone Road in Central London. There are reports that many rulers of the United Kingdom have received treatment at the hospital in the past.

Before this, Khaleda Zia last went to London on July 15, 2017 for treatment. After more than three months, he returned to the country on October 18 of that year.
