It was presented in North America, and for now the specifications are only available for this market – European data will be available in time, but until then, let’s see what the Kia EV9 GT can do.
Naturally, the sports version of the large SUV received two electric motors, which produce a total of 508 horsepower – this is more than the 435 horsepower of the top model of the recently presented Hyundai Ioniq 9, but it falls far short of the 585 horsepower of its little brother, the EV6 GT.
With this performance, it accelerates from a standstill to 96 km/h in 4.3 seconds; the 0-100 acceleration will be somewhere around 4.5 seconds. The torque distribution is regulated by an electronic partially self-locking differential.
The brakes were reworked, the front disc became bigger. For the first time in the history of Kia leisure vehicles, an electronically controlled suspension was used, which changes its settings depending on the operating mode, and the driver can also activate the sporty setup with the GT button on the steering wheel.
What does not change is the maximum towed weight of 2,225 kilograms and the ground clearance of 198 mm. The wheels are 21 inches.
The EV9 GT gets a virtual gearbox that pretends to shift gears during acceleration – either automatically or from the steering wheel paddles. All this is accompanied by synthetic switching sounds.
