Kim Jong Un has said that the Korean peninsula is in a dangerous confrontation that could escalate into a nuclear war due to aggressive actions by the United States, Sky News reports.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said the Korean peninsula has never been closer to a nuclear war following what he called “aggressive moves” by the United States.
According to state news agency KCNA, Kim said “the warring parties on the Korean peninsula have never before been in such a dangerous and acute confrontation that could escalate into a devastating thermonuclear war.”
An aggressive and hostile policy towards North Korea
Kim went on to say that negotiations with the United States have reached an impasse, arguing that the superpower is not willing to coexist peacefully, but would maintain an aggressive and hostile policy toward North Korea, “which will not change.”
The statements came shortly after Vladimir Putin issued similar threats to the West, heightening international tensions.
