Kim Seong, chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Press Forum, was inaugurated as the 17th president of the Jaegwang Naju Community Association.

On the afternoon of the 22nd, the Jaegwang Naju Community Association held the 15th and 16th President Kim Bo-gon’s resignation ceremony and the 17th President’s inauguration ceremony at JS Wedding Hall in Seo-gu, Gwangju.

At the inauguration ceremony for the Jaegwang Naju Community Association, over 200 people attended, including National Assembly members Shin Jeong-hoon and Jeong Jin-wook, Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jeong, Gwangju Metropolitan City Council Chairman Shin Su-jeong, Naju Mayor Yoon Byeong-tae, former Naju Mayor Lim Seong-hoon, members of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Press Forum, and local community members, and the event lasted for two hours. It was held in great heat.

The Jaegwang Naju Hometown Association, which celebrates its 59th anniversary this year, is playing a pivotal role for those who have left the country as a result of its extraordinary efforts in nurturing talent, providing social service, and developing the local community.

The new president, Seong Kim, said, “The Jaegwang Naju Hometown Association is a group of pure hometown friends who have strong ties to their hometown,” and added, “We will respect the opinions of each and every member and act as errand boys for the development of our hometown.”

Chairman Kim, who made his first connection with the media by joining the Mudeung Ilbo in 1988, is an orthodox journalist with 38 years of experience who participated as a founding member of the Gwangju Times, the predecessor of the current Namdo Ilbo, in 1997 and served as editor-in-chief, CEO and president. After retirement, he is making extraordinary efforts to develop the local community by serving as a member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Advisory Committee, vice president of the Korean Sports Association for the Disabled, and chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Press Forum.
