(Health Korea News / Yu Ji-in) Korea United Pharmaceuticals announced on the 26th that it achieved its best performance ever on a half-year basis, recording sales of KRW 144.2 billion in the first half of 2024, a 5.0% increase year-on-year.
The company explained that this was a result of the launch of new products and the continued growth of improved versions of existing drugs, and in particular, the steady increase in the sales proportion of improved drugs had a positive effect on improving overall profits.
Not only sales, but also operating profit increased by 3.0% year-on-year to KRW 29.4 billion, posting the best performance ever for the first half of the year. However, net profit for the first half of the year decreased by 55.6% year-on-year to KRW 12.8 billion (KRW 28.8 billion).
A United Pharmaceutical official said, “Net profit has decreased significantly due to the temporary occurrence of the lawsuit judgment amount,” and “This is a one-time factor and is not directly related to the company’s core business. It is not expected to have a significant impact on stable profit generation in the future.”
He added, “Improved new drugs including ‘Artmac Combi Gel’ have shown steady growth and contributed significantly to sales,” and “In addition, there are high expectations for the dyslipidemia complex drug ‘Rosumac Combi Gel’ launched in June, and we expect it to exceed 10 billion won in annual sales.”
United Pharmaceuticals plans to secure continuous growth momentum through a pipeline of approximately 30 new improved drugs to be released in the future.
Meanwhile, Korea United Pharmaceuticals continues to pursue a strategy to increase the proportion of sales of improved new drugs. The goal is to increase the proportion of sales of improved new drugs from 55% in 2023 to 70% by 2026.
