(Health Korea News / Wonjin Park) Korea University Anam Hospital (Director Seungbeom Han) has established the first smart infusion pump solution system in Korea to be applied to patient fluid treatment.

By building this system, Anam Hospital has strengthened its digital platform to enhance safety in medical settings and minimize medication errors. Furthermore, it is evaluated that it has solidified its position as a cutting-edge smart hospital that prioritizes patient safety.

A hospital official told Health Korea News on the 11th, “The severity of the risk of medication errors related to existing infusion pumps during intravenous fluid treatment is emerging as an internationally important issue,” and added, “We are developing a smart infusion pump solution system to lead the way in solving this problem.” “It was built,” he said.

This system provides the ability to automate injection volume and injection speed, and supports real-time confirmation of the status of the pump at the nursing station and hospital information system. If an unexpected situation occurs, an alarm is immediately activated through the hospital information system, allowing immediate response.

The smart infusion pump solution is a system in which fluid prescription information for patients is transmitted and managed in real time, improving work efficiency by eliminating manual input steps. Fine settings up to two decimal places are possible, making precise dosing possible. Data such as drug information and injection amount can be monitored in real time from confirmation of prescription before injection begins to completion. Through this, it is possible to verify consistency with actual prescription information, which is expected to contribute to greatly improving the safety of treatment provided to patients.

Anam Hospital’s establishment of this smart infusion pump solution and computerized prescription linkage system is of great significance in the domestic medical community. In particular, Anam Hospital introduced a patient verification system using a smart device (PDA) as part of its project to build a smart patient safety system, and further strengthened medication safety and maximized patient safety through this solution.

Hospital Director Seung-beom Han said, “We expect that the introduction of this smart infusion pump solution will be evaluated as an important example of leading innovation in the domestic medical field,” and added, “Many medical institutions aiming at smart hospitals for patient safety are also implementing these systems, as well as patient safety.” “We look forward to providing medical services that prioritize the safety of people,” he said.

The hospital explained that the smart infusion pump solution introduced this time was developed using B. Braun Korea Co., Ltd.’s products and Kakao Healthcare’s digital linkage system, and was built after a thorough preparation process for clinical application over the past year.
