Three great protagonists of theatre, cinema and television meet on the stage of “Apo Michanis”.
The “By Machine” Theater presents the award-winning comedy “HEROES” of the famous author Gerald Sibleyras directed by Dimitris Mylonas and translated by Marianna Toli.
The roles of the three military veterans who, against everything and especially time itself, aim to live as they want are embodied by: Costas Arzoglou, Christos Valavanidis and Panos Skouroliakos.
A few words cfor the project
“HEROES” (original title “Le Vent des Peupliers”), written in 2003, was performed for the first time at the Théâtre Montparnasse, while it received 4 nominations for the “Molière” award, including that of the best author. It has been performed in many languages and major theater stages. In fact, it was translated into English by Tom Stoppard and presented in London’s West End, winning the “Lawrence Olivier Best New Comedy Award”.
Three military veterans, locked up in a nursing home, reminisce about the past glories of their youth. However, their passion for the running life does not stop and they all plan their escape together, so that they can be led to the freedom of the outside world.
Even if their physical condition does not allow them to succeed, even if they can hardly get up from the chair, they themselves insist on believing in the dream. Their goal, in this battle against natural wear and tear, is to emerge victorious with imagination!
A tender and touching comedy, which with sensitivity but also with a lot of humor embraces the man in the west of his life. The three old veterans become real heroes as they manage not only to not surrender to the appointed end that is getting closer but also to show us that the love of life and the desire to dream has no age!

The history of theater in our country would certainly be poorer without the countless hours of stage flight by Kostas Arzoglou, Christos Valavanidis and Panos Skouroliakos, three great actors who do me the great honor of directing them in the wonderful play “HEROES”.
_And just as the heroes of Gerald Sibleyras persist in the dream, so these three exceptional actors, with the essence that only experience can offer you, take you on a journey to dreamy dreams with their interpretation. _
It’s great to see the veteran soldiers of Sibleyras, nurtured for years in discipline, now breaking the rules, or better yet making their own rules in the spirit of what matters most: the love of life. And it’s even more wonderful to see Costas Arzoglou, Christos Valavanidis and Panos Skouroliakos effortlessly getting into the skin of these lovable characters and becoming, with the same passion as the first time they stepped on the stage years ago, the heroes of the show . Because for us theatregoers, love for theater is synonymous with love for life.
