It’s a little book full of humor and tenderness which recounts office life within the entity that released some of the most interesting records of the 90s. Emmanuel Plane was press officer at Labels, the department dedicated to independent structures within Virgin France, between 1996 and 2004. Daft Punk, Jean-Louis Murat, Vic Chesnutt, the Stooges, Moby, Suicide or the eternal Philippe Manoeuvre are some of the countless artists and journalists with whom he worked during this period. He evokes them here, without cynicism or gossip, but with many delightful anecdotes and relevant observations behind the scenes of a universe which fascinates more than one, but has not been sex, drugs & rock & roll for a long time. Oh yes, all the same, there is this world-famous musician who asks for meringues to be brought to him in broken French and who, in reality, wanted syringes. Reader, will you be able to recognize it?
