Lancia has conducted the first tests with its new rally car, the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF

Miki Biasion drove the Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF, the car that marks Lancia’s official return to rally competition in 2025.

Miki Biasion led a special test with the Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF, as part of the tests scheduled to tune the car that marks the brand’s official return to the world of rallying in 2025. The Lancia Corse team carries out the technical and road tests of the model, relying on the experience of the former driver rally.

Biason is a name linked to Lancia in motorsport history. He drove the Italian manufacturer’s cars during the 80s and 90s, thus becoming the most successful Italian driver. He won the world rally titles in 1988 and 1989 driving the legendary Delta Integrale.

Lancia returns to rally competition with the new Ypsilon Rally 4 HF

The Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF is equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo engine with 3 cylinders and 4 valves per cylinder, which develops 212 hp. It’s mated to a five-speed sequential transmission that delivers power exclusively to the front axle via a limited-slip differential.

“Today I drove the Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF in a special test and I have to admit that the initial feeling was definitely brilliant! We worked to improve the car’s performance by fine-tuning several parameters: the engine’s response, trying different mappings; ground grip and road holding, with an emphasis on springs and shock absorbers, improving the braking system; gearbox response and testing new gear ratios. I am very honored to be able to contribute to the development of both the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF and the new Lancia Ypsilon HF, two key models in the Lancia Renaissance Plan,” said Miki Biasion.

In addition to the new rally car, Lancia is preparing a high-performance street version of the new Ypsilon. The future Ypsilon HF will be fully electric and will use a single electric motor that develops 280 HP, like the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce.
