Landscape Festival: what to see in Bergamo until September 22nd

Landscape

Facing the crisis (i.e. tackling the crisis) is the theme chosen to characterise the 14th edition of the Landscape FestivalThe event invites architectural studios and landscape designphilosophers, writers, photographers, researchers and botanists from all over the world to share their visions on how to address the current environmental and social crisis. The ability of landscape architects to interpret and respond to environmental, social and economic changes is crucial to create functional, aesthetic and beneficial spaces for communities.

The heart of the event is the setting up of Old Squarethis year by Catherine Mosbach, founder of the Parisian design studio Mosbach paysagistes. The installation invites visitors to explore a space where mineral matter merges with plant matter, reflecting on the relationship between the human body and natural elements. Piazza Vecchia, with its ancient stone pavement crossed by diagonal lines and diamond-shaped geometries, is compared to the ground parched by drought, but it transmits a message of hope: the apparently sterile and desertified soil is marked by cracks in which seeds of new life are grafted, allowing pioneer vegetation to be reborn. The 52 trees present in the installation, and the over 3000 herbaceous and perennial plants that strive to grow through the fractures, stage on the ground of the square a ideal gardenencouraging individuals to fight to overcome the current global crisis, not only climate, but above all social.

Another strategic location is that of theAncient Wash house where to discover the project, curated by Michele Pezzoni, Greta Bianchi and Marco Togni with the support of Pedrali. Following a timeline symbolized by a river, we retrace the course of human life and discover how it is influenced by every decision, past, present and future. The project therefore explores two scenarios: a negative one, with nature overwhelmed by human action, and a positive one, with a balance between man and nature. The choice of which future to create depends on us.

Numerous events and initiatives aimed at the general public and professionals in the sector that animate and will animate the city until September 22. Among the main moments, the final event of the festival: theInternational Meeting of Landscape and Gardenwhich brings together architects, landscape architects, garden designers, botanists and plant designers at the Teatro Sociale in Bergamo, committed to sharing their experience and design philosophy.
