Last-minute revelations about the drama experienced by the Romanian medal favorite at the Olympic Games

Loredana Toma dreamed of getting a medal at the Olympic Games in Paris, but the athlete who represented us in weightlifting experienced a drama, as Alexandru Pădure, the head of the Federation, also hinted.

Alexandru Pădure believes that Loredana Toma was upset after the referees did not validate her lift to 117 kg, the snatched style.

The head of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation, revelations about Loredana Toma’s drama: “It messed us up!”

Alexandru Pădure emphasized in the mixed zone that the decision of the referees was “a little debatable”, it being visibly affected by what happened in the hall in the south of Paris.

The atmosphere was superb in the fight for medals, and the Romanians were also obliged to support our athlete.

“Unfortunately, we are left with a medal, as we assumed at the beginning, winning a medal. But taking into account that we are talking about Loredana Toma and her experience, in the end hope dies last. The cancellation of the lifting was certainly a destabilization of the approach to the contest. It was a reversal of the referee’s decision that certainly messed us up and confused the coaches a bit. It was a very important 117. It was a little debatable there in the elbow area where the jury noticed that there was a mistake in the execution of the procedure.

I don’t know if Loredana feels wronged, but she certainly messed it up. And you saw that the approach to the pulling contest was extremely good and there was an equally good approach to throwing. We will have a discussion and analysis and draw conclusions. With that 117 from the plucking, things would certainly have been different and thrown away”, declared Pădure.

The revelations of the weightlifting boss: “The jury has turned the tide!”

Alexandru Pădure explained what arguments the jury brought after what the referees validated the athlete’s lifting.

“In the arbitration we also had a colleague of ours, the decision of the three arbitrators was a valid one, but the jury reversed the move. I also received opinions from colleagues who had athletes in the competition and who said that they should have left the movement valid. But it’s really a bit debatable, once the arm is extended, it must remain fixed. There should be no movement at the elbow. That’s what they invoked”, he emphasized, at the end of a day in which I experienced a great disappointment with Cătălin Chirilă in the foreground.
