Sandra Kalniete (JV), Inese Vaidere (JV), Mārtiņš Staķis (P), Nils Ušakovs (S) voted for Von der Leyen, but Vilis Kristopans (LPV) voted against.
Latvian member of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group Rihards Kols (NA) abstained from the vote. ECR representatives Roberts Zīle (NA) and Reinis Pozņaks (AS) previously indicated that they would abstain from the vote, however, on Thursday, they did not specify to the LETA agency whether their thoughts had changed.
Deputy Ivars Ijabs (LA) also supported von der Leyen, TV3 news reported.
As reported, on Thursday, the EP elected von der Leyen as the President of the EC for a repeated term of office.
Von der Leyen needed at least 361 votes to be confirmed in office, but 401 of the 720 MEPs voted for her.
