For years, die-hard political enthusiasts could ask centrist parties an ironic question: if you criticize the Reform Party’s policy so strongly, how can you sit nicely together in one party in Europe? It was not possible to give a specific answer other than “things are different in Europe”. However, in mid-September, the Council of the Center Party decided to leave ALDE (Association of European Democrats and Liberals) and start negotiations to find a new European party. The decision was not made simply because the squirrels got fed up in Europe or Jack Madison wanted it that way, but it was preceded by a thorough analysis of the already long-term movement in different directions between the Center Party and ALDE.
