About it reported in the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
During the dialogue, the parties exchanged views on the developing situation in the Middle East. In particular, Lavrov and Habib touched upon the conflict in the Gaza Strip and its impact on the situation in southern Lebanon.
“Russia’s unwavering position in support of the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Lebanese Republic has been confirmed,” the Foreign Ministry representatives emphasized.
Earlier, Lavrov stated that it is not Iran that is interested in escalating the conflict in the region, but Israel.
Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani said that if Israel launches an operation against Hezbollah in Lebanese territories, Lebanon will turn into “hell” for the Jewish state.
