James Murphy confirmed that the group’s new album LCD Soundsystem on the way, with the official release of the new song “x-ray eyes“. After an active year filled with performances at festivals around the world, the band premiered the song “x-ray eyes” on the NTS Radio program “Soup to Nuts” last month. It was recently confirmed that it will LCD Soundsystem to perform at the Primavera Sound 2025 festival with a new album.
James Murphy stated that they are working on the first album after „American Dream“ from 2017. “The new song is the first release of what should become our new album. Don’t ask when it will be ready, because we are still working on it. Still, it feels great to release new music,” Murphy stated. Limited runs of the record will be available at upcoming concerts in Los Angeles and New York, with wider commercial distribution to follow at a later date. He added that the LP is not finished yet, but that it is close.
“X-ray eyes” is the first song LCD Soundsystem since “New Body Rhumba” from 2022. The song combines the band’s signature elements, such as synth motifs and a danceable beat, as James Murphy sings about eyes that “see inside” and “see through your mask”. Flute synth gives additional dynamics to the song.
