Raul Rusescu launched into a real tirade against the Kosovars after the scandal in the match with Romania. According to him, UEFA risks creating a dangerous precedent if it does not take tough measures.
The verdict can be expected, however. All we know for now is that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against both federationsin accordance with article 55 of the Disciplinary Regulation of the European forum.
Raul Rusescu put the guns on the Kosovars after the scandal from the match with Romania
It all started in the minutes of overtime, when the captain of the Kosovo national team, Amir Rrahmani set the tone for the abandonment. The other teammates complied, despite Danish referee Morten Krogh not allowing them to do so.
Contradicted by their behavior, Raul Rusescu not only had an extremely harsh speech, but also opined that UEFA should de-point them, so that they start the next qualification campaign with a handicap. In this case, the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
“As well as the fact that in football and sport in general, walking off the field without a valid reason is a sign of cowardice, in this case nothing really happened. Don’t be angry with me, but “Serbia” was shouted… And for that you have to leave the field?! It is a gesture that makes no sense. Their reasons do not stand up.
What if “Serbia” was chanted? Are you leaving the field? These kitties from Kosovo leave me alone! OK, maybe we’ll get fined for that, but they think they’re such a big, important, warlike state. Well, they were nothing! Their decision to leave the field was premeditated, made on a whim. For a simple chant, they made an unprecedented gesture. I, for one, have never seen anything like it.
I also wrote that their gesture reminded me of my childhood, when the child who brought the ball would get upset and go home if something didn’t suit him. UEFA should be firm in such situations and not tolerate such behaviour. We cannot make fun of a phenomenon like football. As a minimum, their team should start the next qualifying campaign with a handicap, to be disqualified. It is important not to create a precedent”, Rusescu declared for gsp.ro.
Florin Prunea, convinced that Romania will win the match on the “green table”
Questioned on the subject, Florin Prunea – who knows the UEFA regulations very well, being a delegate – gave assurances that Romania will win the case. The Kosovar delegation was also informed before the starting whistle that chants such as “Serbia, Serbia” would not be interpreted as racism or discrimination.
“I am convinced that the reports are made as per the book, with evidence and evidence, which undoubtedly attests that we organized the game very well. There will probably be a fine for objects thrown on the field, a chair or whatever. The chants of the Romanian supporters do not appear only after the conflict between Rrahmani and Alibec, but also after the provocations. I watched the film very carefully.
They were informed before the match that these “Serbia, Serbia” chants are not considered racism or discrimination. There is nothing else to do. The procedures lead to this result (no. 3-0 in favor of Romania, at the green table). The decision can be one and, apart from 3-0, a very big financial penalty for them”, explained the former great goalkeeper.
