Lebanon: Approximately 240 thousand people crossed into Syria after Israeli attacks

In the statement made by the Lebanon Disaster Risk Management Unit, information was given about the people displaced in Lebanon following the Israeli attacks.

It was recorded that 239 thousand 453 people crossed the Lebanese border into Syria between 23-30 September in Lebanon, 176 thousand 80 of these people were Syrian and 63 thousand 373 were Lebanese.

It was stated that 1 million people have been displaced since October 8, 2023 due to Israeli attacks, and 155 thousand 600 of these people have been placed in shelter centers. It was emphasized that 875 centers were opened in Lebanon to accommodate the displaced, and 625 of them reached their maximum capacity.

The statement also stated that the Lebanese government launched a “humanitarian aid appeal” to collect donations together with organizations affiliated with the United Nations, and that 425 million dollars were needed to meet the needs of people displaced in the country.

1275 people died in Israeli attacks in Lebanon

The Israeli army, which has been continuing controlled clashes with Hezbollah since October 8, 2023, exploded the pagers and radios used by Hezbollah on September 17-18, and launched hundreds of air strikes on the southern cities of Lebanon as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions on September 23. organized.

According to Lebanese authorities, a total of 1275 people, including 104 children and 194 women, have died since September 17, when the communication devices used by Hezbollah were detonated.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in air strikes by the Israeli army on Beirut on September 27.

Hundreds of thousands of people were displaced within the country due to Israeli bombardment. While the wave of migration from the southern parts of the country to the capital Beirut and the north continues, it is stated that tens of thousands of people have migrated to Syria.

Hezbollah responds to Israel with rockets and missiles. No major damage was reported in these attacks, which mostly targeted army bases on the Israeli side.
