Citizens who attended the opposition party’s third outdoor rally also expressed the same voice.
The five opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, the Fatherland Innovation Party, the Progressive Party, the Basic Income Party, and the Social Democratic Party, held a rally in front of Gwanghwamun in Seoul on the afternoon of the 16th for the ‘3rd National Action Day to condemn Kim Kun-hee and Yoon Seok-yeol’s corruption in state affairs and call for a special prosecutor.
Organizers estimated that about 100,000 people participated in the rally (police estimates about 20,000 people). Citizens came together wearing blue and white raincoats even though the weather was quite chilly.
They held placards and candle-shaped lanterns with the words “Reject Yoon Seok-yeol” and “Invest Kim Kun-hee as special prosecutors,” and shouted slogans such as “Every time you open your mouth, you lie, condemn President Yoon Seok-yeol” and “Investgate Kim Kun-hee.”
In their citizens’ declaration, they mentioned the prosecution’s recent decision not to indict Mrs. Kim Kun-hee, who was involved in the suspicion of stock price manipulation at Deutsche Motors, and said, “The prosecution tried to unreasonably acquit Ms. Kim Kun-hee of the charges. Fairness and common sense were broken,” and “The government should be governed by a special prosecutor.” He demanded, “Find out the truth behind the farming operation.”
The father of Jeong Seul-gi (41), who died from overwork while working at Coupang Namyangju Camp 2 last May, also went on stage and criticized the government.
He criticized, “As many as 20 workers have died at Coupang over the past four years. Is this a proper country that neglects workers dying? Is there any country that should protect the lives of its citizens?”
Many people also participated in the rally that day, saying they were not satisfied with the court’s first-trial verdict on Representative Lee’s violation of the Public Official Election Act. They pointed out the prosecution’s investigation and the court’s judgment with voices such as “The court’s sentence was wrong” and “We participated in the rally with a heartbroken heart.”
Kim Ji-young (49), who attended this rally with her elementary school children, also said, “I came out with a heart of support after seeing the ridiculous first trial ruling against the representative,” and said to President Yoon Seok-yeol, “He is not admitting his mistake or apologizing.” sharpened the blade

Meanwhile, the police deployed personnel from about 60 units that day to manage the rally. It has been determined that no one has yet been arrested by the police during the rally on this day.
