Lego The Legend of Zelda is much more beautiful in real life

Lego and Nintendo are teaming up once again for a new set, this time inspired by The Legend of Zelda. For €300 (yes, it’s expensive), it allows you to assemble the Mojo tree of Breath of the Wild or ofOcarina of Time.

The Legend of Zelda is a saga that has existed for a very, very long time (1987 for the very first opus). But we had to wait until 2024 to see a partnership emerge between Nintendo and Lego, around a first set to assemble. As is often the case, the Japanese firm first wanted to highlight its other flagship license — Super Mario Bros. — in its fruitful marriage with Danish brick.

Link and Zelda are not entitled to the same treatment as the plumber, who is at the origin of a whole range of products based on the creation, with a special figurine. As part of the set The Legend of Zeldawe are more in the collection product, even exhibition. We are talking about assembling the Mojo Tree, with the choice of the version to put on its shelf. The promotional photos showed a puny and overpriced reconstruction compared to the inventory of parts in the box (€300 for 2,500 bricks). The reality is much more positive.

Zelda fans will fall for this Lego

Concretely, the Lego set inspired by The Legend of Zelda allows you to assemble a replica of the Mojo Tree in two configurations: one taken from Oracina of Timethe other of Breath of the Wild — two major episodes of the cult saga (the first in 3D and the one that revolutionized open worlds).

Both versions share a common base, then, at step 90, you choose which Deku Tree you want to assemble (which results in a lot of unused parts). Added to this is a small house on high ground (Ocarina of Time), a stele for the Legendary Sword (Breath of the Wild) and four figurines (three versions of Link and only one of Zelda).

Unless you misjudge the different shades of green that are there to give texture to the foliage, the construction process is quite simple and straight forward. The fastest will take an afternoon to fold the thing. Good news: no stickers come to taint the assembly process — a big plus for the durability over time of the decorated surfaces.

Proof that the Mojo Tree is first and foremost a collector’s item, there are no complex mechanisms to be had. The designers preferred to focus on vegetation and ground decoration. The result is a successful diorama, generous in detail, with a host of winks to attract fans.

An undeniable respect for the Zelda universe

Thus, we will find almost all of Link’s equipment, with the Master Sword, the ad hoc shield, an ocarina, a bomb, a grappling hook and even the Sheikah tablet (used in Breath of the Wild). This arsenal made available will allow you to imagine the hero in various situations, even if the 2-in-1 configuration pushes you to buy the set twice so as not to mix two different games — and at €300 each, that stings a bit.

Let’s also point out the presence of many korogus (please don’t torture them). Nintendo and Lego even thought of a figurine in the image of Noïa, the giant korogu who loves to shake his magic maracas (they really make noise, thanks to a tiny piece inside), or even a few fairies. The respect for the Zelda universe is undeniable.

It must also be acknowledged that the Link and Zelda figurines are all extremely successful. They alone can justify the purchase of the product. The stamping work is remarkable, including on the arms and legs. Young Link has small legs and even has his own little skirt to match the video games.

The various headdresses are impeccably made and truly honor the characters. While not revolutionary in the construction process, the Lego Mojo Tree is clearly not stingy with small details that hit the mark (we’ll leave you with a few surprises). For fans, it’s a godsend.
