The guiding star for Lenovo ahead of this year’s CES seems to have been “first on the ball”. It is not enough that the Legion Go S becomes the first portable gaming machine alongside the Steam Deck to have Steam OS as its operating system.
Even when it comes to laptops, Lenovo has wanted to break new ground. Therefore, the Chinese PC manufacturer has now launched a laptop with a rollable screen, i.e. a screen that can be expanded in height by being “rolled out”. The concept has previously been tested on mobile phones by various manufacturers, but when it comes to laptops, the Thinbook Plus Gen 6 should be the first of its kind.
This is not the first time that we have heard about the computer with the scrollable screen. Just over two years ago, Lenovo presented a prototype. Now, however, there is no talk of a prototype anymore, but the Thinkbook Plus Gen 6 will go on sale in June 2025.
The specifications out Lenovo press release testifies to up to 32 GB LPDDR5x memory, up to Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 processor and up to 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD under the hood. Anyone who thinks an AI PC with an OLED screen that can expand from 14 to 16.7 inches sounds like an enticing gadget should be prepared to shell out $3,499. Converted to Swedish kronor, it is around 39,000 kroner. When the computer might be released on the Swedish market and if so what it will cost is unclear at the time of writing.
Mini PC with Snapdragon X chip
Now, the Thinkbook Plus Gen 6 isn’t the only computer with Lenovo’s name to be released this year. The Thinkpad, Thinkbook and Thinkcentre series together receive six new additions, including the new Copilot Plus computers in the Thinkpad X9 14 and 15 Aura Edition and the all-in-one computer Thinkcentre M90a Pro Gen 6, with Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics.
That philosophy of being first on the ball shows up again here, as the Thinkcentre neo 50q QC mini PC is billed as “the world’s first commercial desktop AI PC with Snapdragon X”.
