Kaia Lepik and Kaupo Uuetoa won the Virtsu annual running party on Saturday.
The Virtu road race has found a secure place in the annual competition calendar of running lovers. Virtsu’s sixth road race organized by Lõuna Länemaa football club brought runners from all over Estonia to the peninsula.
Every year there has been a five-kilometer youth race for up to 16-year-olds and a 10-kilometer full-distance race for adults. The route of the run, which starts and ends at Virtu’s school, mostly runs along the old railway embankment, and it is running in nature that has attracted several high-level athletes to Virtu. After all, it’s one thing to run in large crowd races in the hustle and bustle of the city, but it’s another thing to be accompanied by seabirds and the quiet sea breeze in nature. A small settlement, a big running party was again organized.
