In the coming days, Meta will offer EU users the new option to see less personalized advertising. This option can be activated at no additional cost. The alternative to the pay-or-consent policy is intended to give users more control over their data and corresponds to the EU’s vision of giving users data-saving choices.
In addition, Meta announces that the paid ad-free subscription for mobile devices, which originally cost 12.99 euros per month, will now be reduced to eight euros. An additional fee of five euros applies for each additional account on the same device. This price cut could significantly impact Meta’s advertising revenue in the European market, as fewer personalized ads are expected to be less profitable.
