Let’s get some RAM now because it’s going to get expensive

According to TrendForce’s analysis, memories may continue to become more expensive in the third quarter.

A recent report was published by TrendForce, in which the expected change in DRAM prices is analysed, and based on this, the price of different types of memory is not expected to decrease in the next quarter either. To be precise, an average price increase of 3-8% is expected for the modules used in PCs, thanks to the strengthening of the server market and the fact that an increasing part of the production capacity is transferred to the production of HBM. At the same time, the rate of price increase is somewhat restrained by the fact that the warehouses are full, and the demand from the end users did not pick up significantly either.

They also expect a 3-8% price increase for mobile DRAM modules. This is not so bad news, because the increase in prices was much more radical before, but now the inventory has roughly stabilized, so the manufacturers, even if they want to, cannot win a more significant increase for themselves.

On the other hand, those looking for server memory can count on a more significant increase of 8-13%. Within this, it is mainly DDR5 that we can expect to see a serious price increase, because there is enough DDR4 in the warehouses.
