The Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jeong Gi-hwan) announced that horse racing in Seoul, Busan, Gyeongnam, and Jeju will all be closed from the 20th to the 22nd. The Korea Racing Authority’s three Let’s Run Parks and all business sites will resume racing as weekly races starting on the 27th.
In the remaining 4th quarter after the break, there are a series of big target and special races. There is the President’s Cup (G1, October 13) and the Grand Prix (G1, December 1), which are the consecutive gateways to the ‘Korea Premier’ series that are directly connected to the selection of the representative horse of the year. ‘Triple Nine’, which defended the ‘President’s Cup’ 1st place for 4 consecutive years from ’15 to ’18, has become a legend in the true sense of the word, and the ‘Grand Prix’, which is considered the greatest glory of Korean horse racing, has also produced many famous horses, such as ‘Whaling Ship’ in the 80s, ‘Dongbanui Kangja’, and ‘Emotional Sea’.
In particular, the ‘Grand Prix’ has created moving stories that will be engraved in the history of Korean horse racing along with famous horses, such as a dramatic turnaround with the horses competing for first place over the longest distance of 2300m.
Attention is focused on how ‘Winner’s Man’, who became a legend by winning both the ‘President’s Cup’ and the ‘Grand Prix’ last year, will continue his progress this year, and whether the racehorses that performed well in the first half of the year, such as ‘Global Hit’, who is in first place in cumulative points in the Korea Premier, and ‘Joyful Journey’, the best filly, will establish themselves as new champions.
The second gate of the ‘Juvenile’ series mentioned above, the ‘Nonghyup Central Chairman’s Cup’ (L, October 20th), will also be an interesting way to watch as a horse owner tests his ‘instinct’ to discover a super seedling with potential.
Detailed schedules for each target race and series race to be held in the fourth quarter of 2024, as well as information on winning horses, can be found on the Korea Racing Authority website’s horse racing information page.
