LG Electronics LifeGood employee volunteer group announced on the 12th that it visited Mongolia again this year, following last year.

They will carry out volunteer work at Shakhart School No. 79 in Gachort District, Ulaanbaatar, the capital city, from the 9th to the 13th local time.

This revisit to Mongolia is to improve the aging facilities of the high school, which is located next to the elementary and middle school that was renovated last year. Shahart 79 School is located about an hour’s drive from downtown Ulaanbaatar, and currently shares a school grounds with the elementary, middle, and high schools, with about 3,000 students.

The main purpose of this volunteer activity is to improve the poor educational environment and support the emotional growth of Mongolian youth through cultural exchange. In addition, it is intended to spread LG Electronics’ brand philosophy of ‘continue to boldly challenge with an optimistic attitude even when faced with difficulties’ to Mongolian youth.

The volunteer group repairs classroom floors, builds cafeteria chairs, and creates a basic learning environment. They help students have a healthy and bright school life by creating a rest area in the playground and painting murals. They also repair the unpaved road in front of the high school gate for about 500m to help students who have difficulty commuting to and from school because of the muddy ground whenever it rains. In addition, LG Electronics donates ‘LG electronic whiteboards’ to provide students with a digital education experience.

The 30 or so employees who participated in the volunteer group have diverse talents and backgrounds. Some of the employees have qualifications as architects or social workers, and others have volunteer experience in facility maintenance, mural painting, and educational mentoring.

“I hope that I can be of some help to Mongolian students with my talents,” said Park Jin-hee, head of the BS Business Division, who holds an architectural license.

This volunteer activity was also participated by university students who were selected for their outstanding activities from the 10th LG Electronics ESG Academy. In addition to volunteer activities, the university students also lead cultural activities with Mongolian students, such as traditional cultural performances and mini sports days.

In addition, LG Electronics continues to promote ‘Brave Optimism’, which means boldly taking on challenges with an optimistic attitude even when facing difficulties around the world.
