One of the most interesting of the 14 new models is definitely the 48-inch version, which is 4K – but due to its size, it can push the price of entry into the world of OLED TVs much lower. This is not a very hidden goal of LG, even if the price could have been lowered if the gadget only had a Full HD resolution. However, they obviously did not dare to accept this at LG, because when even the mid-range category is already full of 4K TVs, then a top Full HD device does not look good on paper, even if no one notices from a normal viewing distance of 3-4 meters. doesn’t care about the difference.
This year, LG will sell its hair-thin wall-mounted TV under the name LG WX in 65 and 77-inch sizes (it has been available for a while now, and prototypes have been presented several times here on geeks.hu). This series now gets an in-house alternative called GX Gallery. The new series does not consist of hair-thin models, but the 65-inch version is still only 20 mm thick, so it can also be easily attached to the wall. Due to its design, this device most closely resembles a picture frame, so it can decorate the room even when it is not switched on.
In return, the GX series is 20 mm thick and contains all electronics within the device housing – in WX TVs, the image processing unit is still located in a separate box. The GX series will have three members, it will consist of 55-, 65- and 77-inch models.
There will also be a 65-inch model with a curved design, the 65RX will strengthen the SIGNATURE product line. In addition, the C and B series are renewed, now called CX and BX; both will have 55-, 65- and 77-inch models, and the 48-inch version mentioned at the beginning of the article will come to the CX series.
Of course, this year OLED TVs are also stepping up in terms of resolution; the ZX series will be available in 77 and 88-inch sizes for those users for whom 4K is not enough and who definitely want to have an 8K TV in their living room right now.
Of course, LG has also improved the electronics of the TVs, the new image processing chip boosts the image with the help of improved artificial intelligence and deep learning, and supports the IQ version of Dolby Vision, also boosted with artificial intelligence. Filmmaker Mode will be useful for those who want a perfect cinema experience and for gamers, which, when activated, will automatically turn off all image enhancements – so it is guaranteed that what the directors dreamed up will be on the TV, and you won’t have to worry about input lag during the game. This mode can be turned on manually, via a phone app or automatically assigned to one of the inputs. Another good news for gamers is that 12 models also support the NVIDIA G-Sync service, as well as the HGiG mode, which ensures better HDR compatibility for games (the 8K TVs, i.e. two members of the ZX series, are left out). webOS also gets new features, most of which are related to Apple’s streaming services and smart home functions.
