LG has revealed its new range of monitors from the UltraGear GX9 series, which are based on WOLED technology. These are the 45GX990A and 45GX950A models, both with 45-inch diagonals, 5K2K resolutions (5120×2160 pixels) and 21:9 aspect ratio. Both monitors boast a 0.03ms GtG response time and support for variable refresh rates (VRR), although the South Korean manufacturer has yet to specify the maximum refresh rates of these devices.
The monitor that can switch from a flat to a curved display (and vice versa)
The most impressive of the two is undoubtedly the LG UltraGear GX9 45GX990A model, which can change its physical appearance: the new gaming monitor can be converted, with a simple press of a button, from a completely flat display to a curved one of 900R. In contrast, the LG UltraGear GX9 45GX950A uses a curved panel with an 800R curvature.
As monitors designed specifically for gaming, both new UltraGear GX9 models offer support for NVIDIA G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technologies, as well as HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity. The screens of the new monitors are also protected by LG’s additional Anti-Glare & Low Reflection (AGLR) layer, and include a USB hub with USB Type-C ports capable of charging according to the Power Delivery standard at 90 W. Also , 45GX990A and 45GX950A also include support for LG’s Dual-Mode feature, with automatic aspect ratio and resolution adjustments in multi-monitor setups.
Unfortunately, LG has not yet revealed the prices of these two new monitors, nor any other information related to their releases, such as the dates on which they would be available on the market. However, the South Korean company has confirmed that the long-awaited additional details about its new range of UltraGear GX9 monitors will arrive at CES 2025, an event that will take place between January 7 and 11, 2025, in Las Vegas, United States of America.
