LG Display has officially presented details of its latest OLED panel, which it describes as the brightest to date. The panel will be used in several of this year’s upcoming flagship models, including LG Electronics’ G5 series and Panasonic’s Z95B, reports The Verge.
The new panelwhich is the fourth generation of LG Display’s OLED technology, is said to offer a 33 percent increase in brightness compared to its predecessors and is “optimized for the AI TV age.” According to LG Display, the panel can reach a maximum brightness of 4,000 nits and a color brightness of 2,100 nits, which means an improvement of 40 percent compared to the previous generation.
Higher brightness is not the only thing that LG Display promises. The company also states that the panels must be 21 percent more energy efficient than the panels in the third generation.
The launch date for TVs with the new OLED panel has not been revealed. LG Electronics traditionally releases its new OLED TVs in the spring, which could mean we’ll see the fourth-generation panels then.
