LG released a 480-hertz OLED gaming monitor with QHD resolution

LG’s new UltraGear gaming monitor 27GX790A offers not only a fast refresh rate but also DisplayPort 2.1 support.

To the delight of avid PC gamers, LG has released a new UltraGear gaming monitor with a 480Hz WOLED (White OLED) panel with a QHD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. 480 Hz is currently the fastest refresh rate on the market for QHD resolution OLED screens. The novelty with the model name 27GX790A also supports the modern DisplayPort 2.1 standard.

The 27GX790A has both DisplayHDR True Black 400 and ClearMR 9000 from VESA certificates, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync Compatible take care of the refresh rate synchronization. The gray-to-gray response time of the pixels is a lightning fast 0.03 milliseconds.

As mentioned at the beginning of the news, the display has a DisplayPort interface of model 2.1, which is still quite rare, although it is slowly but surely becoming a common feature in today’s displays. The two HDMI connections are model 2.1 for modern consoles. In addition, the screen has two USB-A connections (3.0) and a headphone connection that supports DTS Headphone:X sound. There is a whole range of ergonomic adjustments, i.e. height adjustment, tilting, turning and rotation.

The availability and pricing of the 27GX790A in Finland has not yet been announced, but in the United States the pre-order price of the monitor is $1,000.
