LG’s new display running the webOS operating system is its first MyView Smart Monitor model, which is equipped with a wide aspect ratio curved panel.
LG, known especially for televisions and monitors, has released a new “smart monitor” in its MyView Smart Monitor product family with the model name 34SR65QC. The 34-inch screen has a wider than usual aspect ratio of 21:9 and its panel is curved. The VA panel with a brightness of 300 nits has a WQHD resolution of 3440 × 1440 pixels and 99 percent sRGB color coverage. LG did not talk about the screen’s refresh rate or response times in its press release, but the 34SR65QC is quite far from today’s fastest gaming monitors. The screen is mainly intended for working and using streaming services.
What makes the 34SR65QC smart is the webOS operating system installed on it, which LG also uses in its televisions. In WebOS, familiar streaming service applications are ready, but there are also useful applications, such as e-mail and cloud storage services, which can be used directly from the screen without connecting it to a computer at all. AirPlay and Screen Share features are also supported for mirroring an image on the screen directly from a smartphone. The screen comes with a remote control, but it is also compatible with LG’s Magic Remote TV remote control, which allows you to control the screen with, for example, voice commands.
In addition to the 34SR65QC – which has tilt and height adjustment options – the model 34SR60QC with only tilt adjustment will also be available. Sales will begin in the US and Korean markets during August, and in other regions a little later. LG did not reveal the screen’s recommended price in its press release.
