Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Hyundai Motor Group are accelerating the creation of smart cities.
LH signed a basic agreement for cooperation in the smart city sector with Hyundai Motor Group on the 3rd ahead of the opening of the ‘2024 World Smart City Expo’. The signing ceremony held that day was attended by LH Vice President Lee Sang-wook and Hyundai Motor Group Vice President Kim Heung-soo.
This agreement was created to promote the creation of a more advanced smart city by having the public and private sectors work together to utilize cutting-edge future technologies to solve urban social problems and discover smart services that anyone can easily use.
LH and Hyundai Motor Group will cooperate in ▲discovering new technologies applicable to residential and urban spaces and planning and verifying new services ▲predicting changes in urban spatial structure due to technological advancements such as future mobility and artificial intelligence ▲jointly discovering business models for exporting excellent K-Cities overseas.
Starting with this agreement, LH plans to establish various cooperative systems to maximize synergy effects in the smart city sector and proactively respond to future urban changes to provide the residential and urban spaces that the public wants.
Hyundai Motor Group was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s mobility-specialized city development competition in November last year and is currently establishing a future mobility-specialized plan for the Gwangmyeong-Siheung area. LH plans to work closely with Hyundai Motor Group to establish a plan optimized for the Gwangmyeong-Siheung area.
Prior to the agreement, LH and Hyundai Motor Group also held a forum on technology-inclusive city strategies to respond to future social changes, and discussed topics such as predicting changes in future urban spatial structures and seeking mutually cooperative roles between the public and private sectors.
Lee Sang-wook, Vice President of LH, said, “This is a time when we must focus on creating a sustainable future urban space that can respond to social changes such as an aging population and low birth rate as well as solving urban problems in various fields such as transportation and environment.” He added, “We will take the lead in creating a smart city where anyone living in the city can easily use future cutting-edge technologies in their daily lives by cooperating with Hyundai Motor Group, which possesses cutting-edge mobility technology.”
