(Seoul = Newsis) Reporter Go Ga-hye = Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 13th that Hambaksan Central Park, built in Pyeongtaek Godeok District, won the Prime Minister’s Award at the 14th Korea Landscaping Awards.

The ‘Korea Landscaping Awards’, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Environment and Landscape Development Foundation, is a contest that discovers and awards excellent landscaping spaces that have contributed to creating a pleasant living environment and improving the quality of life of the people. The winning works were selected through the first document evaluation, second on-site review, and online public participation evaluation.

Pyeongtaek Godeok Hambaksan Central Park has a total area of 670,000 m2 and is the largest ecological complex cultural park in Pyeongtaek City. There is a musical fountain with a maximum height of 60m and a length of 130m, as well as an Orchard Garden, Silgaecheon, an eco center, and a sports field.

LH not only increased eco-friendliness by preserving the existing forests of Hambaksan Mountain and saving the egret habitat, but also applied a differentiated design that resembles the region’s unique culture and landscape.

In addition, it received high praise for establishing a water circulation system using rainwater and reused water to improve the water quality of lakes in the park, and establishing a foundation for promoting biodiversity and responding to climate change by creating a carbon offset forest.

As a result, LH won the Presidential Award at the Korea Landscaping Awards for the Pyeongtaek Godeok Public Garden in 2022 and the ‘LH Signature Garden’ in 2023, and continues the honor of winning the award with the Pyeongtaek Godeok Hambaksan Central Park.

Dong-seon Park, head of LH’s Land, Infrastructure and Urban Division, said, “Hambaksan Central Park will become a green hub for Pyeongtaek Godeok New Town, where people can naturally access and enjoy existing forests and gardens in urban life.” “We will strive to create a garden city,” he said.
