Lidl pissed off customers! He offered a huge discount, then backed out

  • Lidl offered goods at absurdly low prices
  • The fault was probably an error on the part of the seller
  • He subsequently canceled the orders en masse

Lidl customers can use the mobile app Lidl Plus occasionally find very interesting discount coupons. Recently, the opportunity to get a discount when shopping at the Lidl e-shop jumped out at them, namely on products such as auto track or ash vacuum cleaner. However, those interested in these products were very surprised when they bought them – and pleasantly so. The final price of the goods appeared in the basket as 100, i.e. 200 CZK. At the same time, the original price of the products is CZK 1,499.

The customers were so excited and the news of the huge and unexpected discount spread like lightning. The orders were increasing so quickly. But Lidl he subsequently canceled them all. There was an error and the price of the product after the discount was exchanged for the amount of the discount itself. Even though a lot of people had already paid the amount and therefore ordered the goods, the merchant canceled everything.

A lot of shoppers were suddenly upset. “I ordered a car track and paid for it. How can you afford to cancel a confirmed and paid order? No one returned my money. This is for a complaint to ČOI and a criminal complaint for unauthorized enrichment,” Tomáš Novotný wrote on Facebook.

The merchant has the right to cancel

Although it seems to customers that they are legally entitled to their goods for 100, this is not the case. In the event of a similar technical or human error on the part of the merchant, it may according to the law cancel orders. However, he must fulfill several conditions for this. This is particularly the case that the price is obviously unreasonable, that the customer must have known this at first glance and that it was created by mistake. All this happened, so Lidl is right.

Therefore, those who bought an extremely cheap vacuum cleaner for ash or a car track are out of luck. Although Lidl did not return the money to them immediately, it is his duty and he will certainly live up to it. The only big mistake on his part is to allegedly send an email to customers saying that he is canceling the order because the item is no longer available. Which is not true at a glance at the e-shop.
