Lisbon Municipal Assembly approves “immediate suspension” of new local accommodation registrations – Society

This Tuesday, the Lisbon Municipal Assembly approved the council’s proposal for the “immediate suspension” of new local accommodation licenses in the city, “for a period of six months”, subject to renewal for the same period.

The “immediate suspension” of the authorization of new registrations is valid “until the amendment to the Local Accommodation Municipal Regulation comes into force”, a decision that was approved with the votes against by IL, MPT, PPM, Chega and non-registered deputy Margarida Penedo ( who left the CDS-PP).

Municipal deputies from BE, Livre, PEV, PCP, two independents from Citizens for Lisbon (elected by the PS/Livre coalition), PS, PSD, PAN, Aliança and CDS-PP voted in favor.

Before the vote, the assembly’s work was interrupted for a few minutes for the conference of representatives to clarify doubts about whether the proposal met the necessary conditions to be voted on, concluding that it did.

At issue is the PS proposal in the Lisbon Chamber, which was discussed and unanimously approved on Wednesday at a public meeting of the municipal executive, discarding the initiative of the PSD/CDS-PP leadership that suggested the “total suspension” of new registrations .

Urgently scheduled at the Lisbon Municipal Assembly, the proposal determines the “immediate suspension” of the authorization of new local accommodation (AL) registrations, “for a period of six months, without prejudice to its renewal for the same period, until entry into force force of the amendment to the Municipal Local Accommodation Regulation”, to be applied in parishes where there is a relationship between the number of AL establishments and the number of existing housing units “equal to or greater than 2.5%” or while the municipality, in its as a whole, present an index “equal to or greater than 5%”.

According to the Lisbon City Council, the municipality currently has a ratio of 7.2%, so the suspension applies to the entire territory, as long as the ratio between classic family accommodation and local accommodation does not fall below 5% throughout the entire territory. municipality or until the new Municipal Local Accommodation Regulation comes into force.

The Lisbon Municipal Assembly also unanimously approved the PSD/CDS-PP leadership’s proposal for the revision of the Municipality’s Sports Charter, as well as the new designation of the Municipality’s Physical Activity and Sports Charter.

At the proposal of the PAN municipal group, the assembly decided to recommend to the council the attribution of the name of São Francisco de Assis to the pedestrian bridge of Parque Tejo-Trancão, which was voted against by BE, Livre, PEV, PCP, Aliança and CDS -PP and the abstention of PSD, IL, MPT and Chega.

In this context, it was also recommended that the Lisbon City Council work with the Loures City Council so that the name for the Tagus-Trancão Bridge is agreed between both municipalities.
