Darts prodigy Luke Littler has confirmed his great form and won the final of the Grand Slam of Darts with a gala performance.
In the duel against his English compatriot Martin Lukeman, the 17-year-old won phenomenally 16:3 and collected his tenth title this year. Littler can also look forward to prize money of 150,000 pounds (around 170,000 euros).
After an extremely close semi-final against former Scottish world champion Gary Anderson (16:15), Littler inexorably pulled away from his opponent in the final with a few teething problems. The first two legs were lost, then the show of strength followed by winning 15 legs in a row.

However, Littler was unable to achieve a smooth run. Lukeman shortened the score to 3:15 and was celebrated by the fans. Littler then converted his second match dart and completed his well-deserved victory with an average of over 107 points and twelve 180s. The clearly defeated Lukeman paid homage to Littler and bowed. Martin Schindler (Strausberg) missed out on reaching the round of 16 at the Grand Slam.
The victory in Wolverhampton could be a good omen for Littler, now fifth in the world rankings, for the upcoming World Darts Championships in London (December 15th to January 3rd).
The last two winners of the Grand Slam of Darts, Michael Smith and Luke Humphries, were subsequently crowned world champions. Littler himself lost to Humphries in the World Cup final last year. This year he is considered one of the big favorites for the title.
