Turkcell, which continues its preparations and investments for 5G technology, made a striking demo demonstration within the scope of TEKNOFEST, which was held for the 7th time this year in Adana. In the demo event held on the opening day of the event, an excavator connected to Turkcell’s 5G in Kocaeli – Gebze was remotely controlled with 5G technology from the Turkcell stand in the event area.
The 5G event organized by Turkcell on the opening day of TEKNOFEST, Turkey’s first and only aviation, space and technology festival, which took place in Adana between 2-6 October this year, attracted great attention. The excavator, at a distance of 667 kilometers as the crow flies, was successfully controlled by the operator at Turkcell’s 5G stand. The screening was open to visitors, live and in real time.
This remarkable demonstration of Turkcell at TEKNOFEST also revealed the point that machine-to-machine communication has reached, thanks to the low latency and high concurrency capability of 5G. The ability to seamlessly control many devices at the same time, even over long distances, with 5G increases operational efficiency and flexibility in many industries.
TURKCELL DIFFERENCE IN 5G
Turkcell General Manager Dr. In his statement, Ali Taha Koç stated that 5G will provide revolutionary transformations in many sectors, especially education, health, transportation and production industries. Koç said, “As Turkcell, we have completed all our preparations for the transition to 5G. We have adapted our technical infrastructure to the new generation technology and we continue our work to ensure that Turkey is among the technology-producing countries.”
Dr. Ali Taha Koç emphasized that Turkey should be a country that not only consumes but also produces technology and said: “The new generation 5G technology will trigger radical transformations in many sectors in the near future. As Turkcell, we direct our investments in these new generation technologies in both our mobile and fiber networks. “When the regulation process is completed, we will lead Turkey’s digital transformation by providing the best and most reliable service in 5G.”

Koç also stated that the high speed, capacity and efficiency offered by 5G technology will make significant contributions to Turkey’s technology ecosystem and said, “Major events such as TEKNOFEST are the right place to showcase the potential offered by these technologies. This successful demo we held in our 30th year showed once again. “Turkcell is present wherever there is technology and will continue to work and produce for Türkiye,” he said.
TURKCELL PROVIDES THE 5G SERVICE OF THE OPEN AIR LABORATORY WHERE THE DEMO SHOW WAS HELD
The open-air laboratory located in TÜBİTAK’s Gebze Campus, where the work machine was successfully remotely controlled in the demo demonstration, is a test environment established to examine how autonomous and connected work machines act under real field conditions in various scenarios and how they interact with their environment. In this test environment, 5G service is provided by Turkcell. On the other hand, Turkcell, which pioneers the development of local-national technologies, uses the 5G core network developed by domestic telecommunications technologies manufacturer i2i Systems in this study.
