Lebanon’s national news agency ANI reported that at least five Israeli shellings took place in and around a southern suburb of Beirut in the early hours of Sunday, four of them “very heavy”, shortly after the Israeli army ordered civilians to evacuate immediately from various sectors of the stronghold of this Shiite movement Hezbollah.

AFP journalists report hearing deafening explosions and seeing smoke rising from the sector.
Ambulances rushed to the scene, according to ANI, which also reported the presence of low-flying Israeli reconnaissance drones.
Israeli military sources say the barrage of strikes south of Beirut targeted Hezbollah’s largest underground weapons depot at the site. The same sources note that in the specific areas the organization had stored a large number of missiles, rockets, anti-tank missiles and anti-ship missiles.
