Live location sharing in direct messages arrives on Instagram

Instagram continues to offer new features, and this time it brings a long-awaited novelty: the live location sharing in direct messages. This new function is ideal for organizing meetings or keeping up to date on the movements of your friends in real time, always with an eye on privacy.

The new option allows users to share their location in real time for a maximum of an hourguaranteeing a high level of security:

The location is visible only to chat participants (both one-on-one and in groups). After one hour, location sharing automatically turns off and location details cannot be forwarded to other chats. You can also pin a specific point on the map to more easily coordinate a meeting.

A crucial point highlighted by Instagram is the need to use this feature with awarenesssharing your location only with trusted people.

Per share your location on Instagramyou need to open a chat in DMs and look for the option to share live location.

Instagram also has added other features to direct messagesaiming to make conversations more fun and personalized: you can now assign nicknames to your contacts or yourself within chats. This makes it easier to manage chats with users with particularly long or complex names. To set a nickname, just tap on the chat name and select the “Nicknames” option.

We also have 17 new sticker packs for a total of more 300 new options to use in DMs. Plus, you can save your favorite stickers and access them quickly from the new sticker bar.

These new features are in the rollout phase and will be available to everyone within a few weeks.
