At Alicante airport: “I don’t know if the other passengers will be able to leave.” Finally seated on the plane after waiting nearly two hours to board, Jacques, 48, feels “lucky”Having gone on holiday to Alicante with his two children, this father arrived early this morning at the Spanish airport for his return flight to Brussels. “But as soon as we arrived, the staff explained to us that there was a breakdown, and that it was not certain that we could leave,” he tells Release. Faced with the situation, there is no choice: check-in is done manually. “Obviously, it was much slower”admits Jacques, who nevertheless refuses to complain. “In the airport, I saw that the line for my plane was the only one moving. I don’t know if the other travelers will be able to leave. Except that in Alicante in July, it’s not going to be easy to find hotel rooms…”he continues on the phone. In the background, an announcement interrupts his story: “Please put on your seat belts.” “Oh, I think we can go! I’ll call you back if it’s a false alarm.”Jacques jokes, before hanging up.
