With modern HDMI 2.1 technology, impressive MLA-OLED picture performance and reference processing quality, Loewe is causing a stir in the high-end TV market with the new Stellar TV model.

With the possibility of fine-tuning open-cell OLED modules in Kronach and producing televisions according to your own ideas, a new era seems to have dawned for Loewe.

Christian Alber, COO Loewe Technology: “By integrating display assembly into our TV production, we have an absolute unique selling point in the market that will effectively support us in implementing our luxury strategy. The label ‘Made in Germany’ is becoming even more important for us and will continue to be firmly anchored in the Loewe DNA. In addition, this expansion is another component of our sustainability concept.”

Return to old strength

The Loewe Stellar is the youngest member of the new Loewe TV family and is a kind of time machine, especially for Loewe TV fans. If you still have fond memories of Loewe’s former Reference series, the Stellar is a modern interpretation of all the ingredients that make Loewe televisions appear so unique.

The SL950 chassis is state-of-the-art with a powerful Novatek chipset including a modern AI processor unit. This opens up more options for making image playback more pleasant, not least when enhancing the image of highly compressed streaming sources. At the same time, Loewe relies on precise image calibration ex works to satisfy even the most demanding film fans.

Particularly important for modern sources: The Stellar is equipped with four full HDMI 2.1 ports, all of which are compatible with 4K 144 Hz gaming signals. Even if an HDMI port is occupied by eARC audio routing to the soundbar, three high-speed HDMI inputs are available.

Tizen provides apps in abundance

Currently, the Stellar cannot hide its close connection to standard Tizen televisions and even the compact second remote control seems like an addition to current Samsung TVs.

But Loewe has also given the Stellar an independent main remote control and is working hard on an adapted OSD variant. This makes the Stellar an unmistakable Loewe television when it comes to operation.

Many of the advantages of Tizen are already evident: there is no shortage of streaming apps and external hardware is therefore unnecessary. Even if some apps are not yet available at product launch, Loewe will continue to expand the selection as soon as the necessary certification processes have been completed.

Classic Loewe TV virtues can also be found in the Stellar: all reception channels are designed using twin tuner technology and an integrated SSD memory of up to 1000 GB ensures comfortable and noiseless multi-recording. HD+ content can also be easily activated via the operator app.

Wave-free MLA-OLED

The extremely rigid housing is almost unique on the TV market: metal or even concrete instead of plastic is the motto here. The concrete mix consists of 70 percent natural rock material and is handmade in Germany.

Every square centimeter of the Stellar appears to be of exceptionally high quality, no comparison to the competition’s mostly cheaply produced and sometimes rattling plastic housings.

Anyone who has seen or even felt the high-quality back in metal and stone finish with their own eyes will probably wish that the Stellar did a 180-degree turn in standby mode in order to be able to appreciate Loewe’s craftsmanship.

An LED strip attached to the underside provides suitable residual light even in the evening hours and the light intensity can be adjusted manually. However, dynamic lighting according to the image content is not provided.

The OLED screen also benefits from Loewe’s manufacturing precision: If the television is switched off and the TV surface reflects the surroundings, the display surface of the Stellar appears flat and almost distortion-free.

Thanks to MLA OLED technology in the 55-, 65-, 77- and 83-inch versions, the Loewe Stellar achieves excellent viewing angle stability. The self-illuminating OLED pixels make it possible to enjoy current 4K HDR film and gaming sources in full quality.

Home theater and more

The sound quality of the integrated speakers is anything but ordinary: Loewe’s sound expertise comes into its own in the Stellar and, thanks to numerous speaker drivers, the television achieves a sound volume that you would hardly expect from slim OLED TVs.

The currently largest Stellar models in 77 and 83 inches offer an audio output of 2x 65 watts sine wave and a music output of 2x 130 watts, respectively. The more compact Stellar models (65 inches and smaller) have 2x 20 watt sine waves or a music output of 2x 40 watts.

The Stellar’s RCA connections will make it possible to integrate the Loewe OLED TV as a center channel in a home cinema setup, so that the sound quality of the integrated speakers can also be used to its full extent in a multi-channel system.

When it comes to installation solutions, Loewe not only offers a classic table and wall installation, but also several options for free-standing TV installation. With the matching Loewe floor stand, the Stellar can be rotated up to 45 degrees at the push of a button and thus aligned to the seat.

We’ll find out what Loewe’s new Stellar TV is actually capable of this year. The XXL digital television test will show whether Loewe actually manages to combine the traditional strengths of the TV brand with the modern possibilities of current TV technology.
