Logpoint acquires Muninn to help organizations improve their cyber security

With the acquisition of Muninn, Logpoint strengthens its position in the European market and adds Network Detection & Response (NDR) to its Cyber Defense Platform based on Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) technology.

Logpoint has acquired the Danish cyber security company Muninn, which is behind an innovative NDR solution based on artificial intelligence (AI).

The goal of this acquisition is to meet the growing demand for cyber security solutions that effectively identify and manage cyber threats. The acquisition marks the next step for Logpoint towards becoming the leading supplier of cyber security in Europe.

“Geopolitical uncertainty, lack of cybersecurity skills and the commercialization of malware have made the cybersecurity landscape more complex. Organizations and cyber security service providers need multi-layered cyber security to detect and deal with cyber attacks in a timely manner. With Muninn, we are expanding our range,” says Mikkel Drucker, Logpoint CEO. “Together, we can deliver greater value to our customers and partners because we can improve their chances of preventing cyber attacks with the combination of AI-powered NDR, SIEM and automation. We are speeding up the innovation of AI products that can strengthen the security posture and minimize cyber risks, and we combine complementary skills from our respective teams.”

The combination of Logpoint and Muninn’s solutions significantly improves visibility in IT systems and networks and increases the chances that organizations and service providers can safely navigate the complex threat landscape. According to research firm Gartner, companies can handle security incidents 50 percent faster if they integrate SIEM, NDR, and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR). Muninn’s NDR solution will complement Logpoint’s Cyber Defense Platform with comprehensive network visibility and better enable customers to prevent cyber attacks in real time. In addition, is Logpoints technology characterized by easy integration with other security products, allowing customers to use their own EDR solution to achieve complete visibility across IT environments.

“We invested in Logpoint to secure the digital society and support the UN’s global goals for sustainable development. It concerns goal 9, which is about building robust infrastructure and goal 16, which is about supporting peaceful and inclusive societies and access to legal certainty,” says Jacob Frandsen, Partner in Summa Equity, majority owner of Logpoint. “Muninn supports the same world goals as Logpoint. Together, they can have an even greater impact, and the acquisition is an important step in Logpoint’s journey towards becoming the leading player in cyber security in Europe.”

Logpoint has established a Labs department headed by Logpoint’s CTO, Christian Have. The aim is to drive security research and AI innovation projects with a view to making it easier for organizations and service providers of cyber security to navigate cyber threats and risks. Muninn’s talented AI professionals and technology will enrich the work of the Labs department. All employees of Muninn as well as the company’s founder and CEO, Andreas Wehowsky, will be integrated into Logpoint. Wehowsky has a master’s degree in Computer Science from MIT and more than 20 years of experience implementing AI and machine learning and IT projects.

“We are looking forward to becoming part of Logpoint and expanding our ability to help medium-sized organizations become more resistant to cyber attacks,” says Andreas Wehowsky. “Many medium-sized companies struggle with limited staff resources, which makes it difficult to meet security requirements and protect the business. By teaming up with Logpoint, we can make an even bigger footprint and make it easier for security professionals to fend off cyber attacks, so the business can focus on what’s important. Ultimately, it is what is needed to protect critical digital services and infrastructure we all depend on.”

Logpoint is the largest supplier of SIEM in Europe. In addition to SIEM, Logpoint provides tools for automation, case management and behavior analytics so companies can detect, investigate and manage cyber threats while complying with data and cyber security laws such as NIS 2 and GDPR. Logpoint’s solutions are built to comply with European legislation and protect data. For example, Logpoint is the only European SIEM vendor with a Common Criteria EAL3+ certification required by NATO, which demonstrates that the systems are robust and capable of handling emerging threats.
