The second stab
The incident comes just 24 hours after an 18-year-old boy fought for his life after being stabbed just over a mile from the current scene of the murder.
The teenager, who attended Shooters Hill College in Woolwich, is in a critical condition in hospital after the stabbing in Prince Imperial Road at around 4.20pm on Monday. There is currently no evidence that the two actions are connected.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 2.29pm today (January 7) to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Church Street and Church Hill in Woolwich, SE18.
We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a rapid response car, an incident response officer and a paramedic from the tactical response unit. We also dispatched the London Air Ambulance. “Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of our crews, a teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Several London bus services are being diverted due to the incident. Traffic is backed up in both directions and locals have been warned to avoid the area.
Local councilor Rachel Taggart-Ryan posted on social media and said: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the murder of a 14-year-old boy in Woolwich today. Detectives from the Serious and Complex Incident Squad are investigating.”
