Long-range missile support from France to Ukraine!

While the USA allowed the use of its own long-range Atacms missiles in the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, this country was followed by the UK. After Atacms, Ukraine also used British Storm Shadow missiles to hit Russian territory. Missile support to Ukraine also came from France.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced that they gave Ukraine permission to use long-range French missiles.

Speaking to the British broadcaster BBC, Barrot noted that France does not have any red line regarding support for Ukraine.

Stating that Western countries should increase their defense budgets, Barrot said, “If we want to do more, we have to spend more and face new threats.” he said.

Emphasis on ‘legitimate defense’

Barrot stated that Ukraine could use French-made long-range missiles against Russia in self-defense.

Avoiding confirming whether these missiles had been used before, the French Minister said, “Our principles are clear. Our messages were clearly received by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.” he said.

Will French soldiers take part?

Regarding the possibility of French soldiers joining the war in Ukraine, Barrot said, “We do not exclude any option.” he said.

The French Minister said, “We will support Ukraine in the amount and for as long as it needs. Why? Because our security is at stake here.” He stated that every time the Russian army makes progress, the threat to Europe gets closer.

Barrot noted that they keep the door open to Ukraine’s invitation to NATO membership and that they are making efforts to bring their European allies closer to France’s stance on this issue.
