In this installment of our member interviews, Rouge of Darkness reflects on how the gallery was filled with innovation before and Bael still has an interest in technology and testing.
@Rouge of Darkness mostly hung out in the gallery where there were lots of innovative, modified and homebuilt chassis and other fun. However, he had been hanging out on the forum for a few years before creating an account.
– Gotall’s dragonhead chassis was very impressive and innovative. I don’t think anyone has done anything like this in recent years and the gallery is not nearly as attractive today as it is today. Today, there is quite a bit of innovation, so it doesn’t attract nearly as much anymore.
– Definitely swecklocker’s youtube video from their trip to Croatia where they try Croatian drinks. Unfortunately, the video was set to private after being there for like 10 years, so it can no longer be viewed. I laughed so hard the first time I saw it.
– Kind of the same, possibly a little more expanded to other subjects and electronics than just computers and computer games.
– The forum feels a bit empty at times, but nothing that you feel is life-threatening for the site. It happens that you are the latest writer in the forum on like 30 threads for 1-2 days and don’t think it’s something you can immediately do anything about. I miss the good old days when you missed a lot of extra clicks because of roller blinds.
– Personally, I am probably 99% resident in the forum. I usually get news and new galleries linked from the forum’s News Comments. I rarely click the link to go to the news page, Tests or gallery unless there’s something specific I’m looking for right there. Possibly some funny videos like the Croatia video or the Ace of Sweden network tag test from 2009 that you could sit and giggle at.
– What made you become a member of SweClockers in the first place, and what do you remember best from that time?
For @tuomi, the journey with SweClockers began some time before high school when a close friend who was also interested in technology recommended the site.
– The interest in getting as much gaming performance as possible out of the study/child allowance was a big reason why the choice landed on the Duron 800, which was overclocked with the help of the forum shortly afterwards.
– Nothing worth mentioning in addition to anything else, many projects started but not finished but the constant has always been the community in helping each other squeeze as much bang for the buck as possible.
– The interest in technology has been constant and revolved around consumption and the creation of games, images, videos, music and programming. The membership started with me having high-flying plans to use VU meters from some old amplifier for a chassis, etc., but it ran in the sand as it turned out to require more time / knowledge than I could handle at the moment. And as I saturate the knowledge of a subject to some extent, I find something new to delve into.
For the last eight years in the house, an interest has been home automation, which for me means that things happen by themselves when necessary, notify you while ev. control must be dashboard / app-free, i.e. easily controlled with the voice.
When we moved to a larger house with three school-age children, a larger home network was also required that covers the site but also measures up to Bahnhof’s Villafiber of 10 Gbps.
Through a find, in the form of a mega-upgraded Creality Ender 3v2 + Rpi4 for SEK 1000 on the Swec market, I have recently found myself another hobby that complements the others well, but above all home automation and other things related to the home. Home automation has also brought the circle to a close as I now also plan to build some of my own circuits to get a stupid doorbell into the system, as well as create a self-controlling fan for the grill.
– No, I think we are good at encouraging each other when someone does something unique and worth highlighting, but I can miss the height of the work somewhat as it is our resident case modders who are responsible for most of the ingenuity around hardware. It would be fun if we could somehow find some inventive spirit together.
– I am looking forward to participating in more events in Gothenburg or nearby, as I have not been able to participate on previous occasions.
